Title: Law & Beard
Series: The Dixie Warden Rejects MC #8
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: March 8, 2018
Winnie thinks she has the perfect life.
Two beautiful, healthy children. A police officer husband. A job that she loves. Oh, and let’s not forget that she’s a nationally ranked marathon runner.
Fast forward six months, and her perfect life has imploded.
Winnie finds herself in a completely new world, and this new world is a brutal bitch.
In this new life of hers, her husband is gone. He realizes, at the worst possible time, that he’s no longer in love with her. He’s in love with her best friend. So he leaves, and doesn’t look back.
Her sixteen-year-old daughter is in trouble with the law, and she’s barely making ends meet thanks to losing the job that was keeping her and her tiny family afloat.
Then, the last thing that could make it all bearable, her running, is ripped out from under her, too. Thanks to a spinal stroke that leaves her unable to walk, let alone run, she’s having to relearn how to do the simplest of tasks—such as putting on her own pants.
She’s at the lowest of lows, and the last thing she wants is a sexy, bearded, motorcycle riding alpha to tell her how to live her life.
But Steel Cross never asks her what she wants.
***
The moment Steel Cross sees Winnie’s daughter steal some shoes for her younger brother, he knows he’s in trouble.
He’s a sucker for misunderstood teens. After all, he was once one himself.
He knows he can’t just walk away, and the moment he sees that troubled teen’s mother, he doesn’t just know it, he feels it. Down to the very bottom of his soul.
With his share of hard knocks, he knows that he shouldn’t step in and make his move on a fellow police officer’s ex. There’s a code, after all, yet he just can’t seem to help himself.
He’s done being the good guy. Sometimes he just wants to be bad.
And Winnie makes him realize that being bad is still kind of good. As long as you’re with the right person.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
*sighs*
hold on. Give me a second here. *hisses at anyone claiming Papa Bear
for their own* hands off people, this man is mine! I licked it, i claims
it! I wish it were that easy to claim/kidnap/have/keep... ummmm,
stalk?!?! Papa Bear. This man. Wow. I knew there was a reason why he
needed his own book and i'm so glad that Lani Lynn Vale decided to bring
back her Dixie Warden Rejects series for one last time to give her
readers the much wanted story of who Steel Cross truly is as the man,
the MC president and police officer.
I
wish i could have this man embodied for my own - not for the previous
reasons, but really, this author has made his way too good to be true.
He just seems larger than life and when it comes to Winnie, he just..
well, he bends over backwards to help her. Seriously, who does that
anymore?! I haven't witnessed this type of behaviour or selflessness in
so long that it almost feels foreign. One of the things that i need to
commend Lani Lynn Vale is how much research goes into her works.
Winnie,
for how young she is, walks around sometimes with a walker, others with
a cane and so other times, struggling to stand upright but too
'pigheaded' to give up and use her 'helpers'. The reason why really got
me curious on what happened to this woman. I mean, she's young, has
young children and even works in the medical profession; and it doesn't
take long to find out why, and this author does it in such a way that
you really understand the how and the why.
The
biggest problem i had with this book was my timing - hell. I had just
finished a book at 9.30 pm and then my genius idea was to read a few
chapters and keep reading the next morning. I should have known better. I
fell asleep 4 hours later after finishing the book because 'one more
chapter' ended up being 'one more book'. It was that good. I couldn't
get enough and personally, i don't know who'se story we'll get next
(alright, i do know, but stil), and i don't know how Lani Lynn Vale will
make it just as memorable as these characters of the Dixie Warden
Rejects.
