Title: Perfectly Flawed
Author: Dani René
Genre: New Adult Romance Standalone
Release Date: September 24, 2018
This new adult, emotional rollercoaster that’s hitting Kindles on September 24th is one of the most anticipated romances of 2018!
I was fourteen when I met him, danced with him, and fell for him.
I was sixteen when Ryder left me with a forbidden promise.
Now I’m twenty, and he’s back, but he has a secret.
I walked out as the boy Piper had loved for far too long.
Now I’m back as a man who’s broken, angry, and flawed.
Yet, each time she looks at me, it’s as if I’m perfect.
Can we have a second chance at love?
Or will our next dance be our last?
*This is a standalone new adult romance with mature themes.*
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
So
here’s the thing – I’ve read Dani René since she first started a few
years ago, and it’s incredibly easy to see and notice the improvements
that she has made to her craft. Where I met her as she wrote her
contemporary romance genre, I’ve seen the biggest impact in her dark
romances.
I`ve come to truly
appreciate her ability to meld both the contemporary romance and dark
romance genre in a story that is quite interesting and unique on its
own. When it comes to Perfectly Flawed, I think I may have expected more
than I should have in the sense, which I was expecting to read the same
style as I had in the previous 3-4 books from this author, only to
realize that it was nothing of the sort.
Because
of my own expectations, I believe it worked against me, making it
harder for me to connect with the characters. There were times when I
almost expected darkness, and got fluffy bunnies. And when I expected
the feels, I got the dark and the twisted. I wish I could have gotten
with the program right from the start, but sadly, I didn`t, which had a
huge impact on how I reacted to these characters.
I
wondered more often than not if Piper was trying to act tougher than
she was, or if Ryder was just a jerk who wanted to show that he was as
broken as he said. Again, that’s my opinion, and the way that I saw
things.
I do have to say that this
author really wrote this story to make you think and grab your attention
from the very beginning, and that’s always a plus for me.
“I love second chance romance books and this one melted my heart.” - Paula D (Goodreads Reviewer)
“Such a unique and captivating story, comprising of so much emotion and love, layered with twists and turns I never saw coming.” - Cupcakes and Bookshelves
"He is such an excellent mix of angry and sweet (perfect bad boy material) that at times I hated him and loved him. The "perfect" angsty love story."- Ginger (Goodreads Reviewer)
"Perfectly Flawed is a beautifully broken, perfectly rebuilt story that everyone needs to read." - Wonder Tre Reads
"This is Dani René's first attempt at New Adult romance, and I have to say, it reads as if she's done this before. It's sweet and edgy all at once and carries some great thought-provoking messages about love" - The Reading Cat
