I
love how Fawn Bailey makes no apologies for her dark stories. How as
dark as the subjects are, she revels in the complexity of her characters
and how they thrive in the darkness.
As
part of the Cards Of Love series, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect
from this book. The previous story I had read of this series, it was
‘cutesey’ and nothing like The Emperor. But I do have to admit that it
took me way too long to finally figure out where I had met Ryker and
Ginger before, which in a way, made it a bit hard to connect with the
story in the first place.
Once
I got over that hurdle, it was so much easier to sit back and enjoy the
ride. Because let’s face it - The Emperor is a ride. One that you won’t
easily forget once you dive into it and chances are you’ll want to
start from the beginning to really get a better idea of how Ginger and
Ryker met and how their story developed.
Considering
that Fawn Bailey is also the alter ego to Isabella Starling, it’ll be
no surprise to anyone to know that I’m really looking forward to reading
more from her in the future since if nothing else, her stories are
always unexpected and unforgettable.
