I’m never drinking again.
That was thought that was running on an endless loop as I woke up in my Italian villa and nearly didn’t make it to the bathroom before puking everywhere. Once my sleep addled brain released from its fog, I knew it wasn’t alcohol induced because the thought of drinking anything made me sicker than shit.
Brushing my teeth and using mouth wash, I went over all the possible scenarios for why this could be happening to me. A pair of bright green eyes flashed across my mind and I melted. Eric. He really was a great guy. Riss had told me how he was doing a couple times. He was in LA at the moment helping train the new security personnel at the new hotel. Is it possible to miss someone you only spent one night with? I thought about that one night and the following morning every day for the last six weeks.
Shit. Fuck. Shit. Six weeks? Oh fuck no no that douchenugget did not get me pregnant! I tried to remember when my last period had been and came up blank. There was no possible way I could be pregnant. We used protection. I would know, I lived every second of that night late when I was alone in my bed.
Rushing through my morning routine, I drove to the local drugstore and grabbed a test, thanking god my dad had drug me around on the European leg of his tours. I learned Italian, French, and German just by talking to people in different countries. I learned a lot of awesome curse words as well.
I got home and started to dial my best friend Rissa, but decided against it. Her man Cole was Eric’s best friend and even though I loved my bestie and would do anything for her, I didn’t think she would be able to keep the secret. So I dialed the next best thing.
“Ah, if it isn’t my favorite runner,” he cackled like the wicked witch.
“Cliff, I’m about to pee on a damn stick can you stop being a bitch for five seconds?” I yelled in near hysterics.
“You’re about to do what?” He asked in a high pitched voice and I almost laughed. If I hadn’t been losing my damn mind it would have been really fucking funny.
“Look, I’m almost never serious about anything just like you that’s why we get along so well but I need you to talk me through this, please?” I begged and Cliff sobered.
“Okay, chickadee, you go pee on your stick thingy and I’ll be right here to cheer you on.”
I walked into the bathroom with the phone tucked between my shoulder and ear and opened the test. Taking a cleansing breath, I read the instructions out loud, “pisci sul bastone e aspetta cinque minuti.”
“Sorry babes, I don’t speak Italian,” Cliff chuckled.
“It basically says I have to wait five minutes for the result,” I blew out a breath.
“Well what are you waiting for? Let’s see if my favorite chicken is gonna have a chick.”
“Grr,” I growled at him, but I did what he said and set the test on the counter while I waited for the result. “Are you timing this?”
“Of course, sugar. Now why don’t you tell me who the big green eyed daddy is.” He cackled again.
“You know who it is, I haven’t been with anyone in months before him and no one since.”
“I figured as much,” he sounded sad. “Are you gonna tell him?”
“I wasn’t planning on it,” I said sullen. The way I treated him because of my own baggage was reprehensible. I doubted we would ever be able to come back from that.
I heard a beeping through the phone and I blew out a breath, wishing I didn’t have to look. Wishing cliff was there to look at it for me.
Stop it twatwaffle! You will pull up your big girl panties and look at the damn stick.
Yes, I even used Urban dictionary words in my own head. It was a sickness really. I steeled myself and grabbed the little white stick off the counter. “This is it, the moment of truth,” I said to myself.
“You got this, honey.” Cliff whispered into the phone just as I looked down at the two pink lines.
“Shit, I’m so screwed.”

I may have been freaking out a little more than I should have. My
brother was eyeing me as I combed through the security footage. There
was something in that trunk that no one knew about, and I wanted to

“What’s this all about, Trey? Is this more than just some stupid kids’

the arm. “Fine, the toys weren’t the only thing in the trunk, okay?”
“Little brother, you need to tell me what it is we’re looking for.”
I could hear the wariness in his tone, and after everything we’d been
through in the past year and a half, it wasn’t right for me to let him
think it was some new the-world-is-about-to go-to-shit moment. “It’s a
little blue box,” I said almost too soft, then winced at his look of
shock.
“Are you fucking kidding me?”
“Shhh, she’ll hear you!”
“What the fuck were you thinking leaving that in the car?”
“She’s sneakier than Mikey. She would have found it in a hot second.”
Griffin looked at me as though I was dumber than a rock. “Why didn’t
you have one of us hide it for you?”
Aww, shit. Maybe I am, but on second thought…
“Um, I don’t know?” I added sarcastically, “The women around here
can’t keep a secret to save their lives. Letting my girl traipse off
to Somalia doesn’t exactly inspire me to trust them.”
“You gotta let that go, Trey. If they hadn’t, we’d both be dead, and
you know it.” Griffin shook his head at me. “I’m calling Mac and
Twitch. We need everyone on this if we’re gonna get that ring back.”
“No. They will tell their women. I do not want Kenzie finding out. You
know her!”
“As far as anyone knows, we’re looking for the kids’ toys. I won’t
tell them what a monumental idiot you were.”

Stupid Trey and his stupid ideas about my driving! He didn’t think about the fact that both times I drove we were kind of in the middle of a life or death situation. No, he only saw my erratic driving. Well okay, maybe I am a little erratic most days. They do like to call me terrorist Barbie, but as Trey sat there smirking over at me with his stupid green eyes that a girl could get lost in, I sulked.
“Well?” he asked sitting in the driver’s seat waiting, as I continued to watch the way his muscles bunched under his shirt. I needed to shut this down. Maybe if I just fucked him and got it over with I could get him out of my head and we could work on getting everyone back. I shook myself internally and banished that idea to the back of my head. That might be the worst idea I had ever had, and that was saying something.
“Well what?” I asked stupidly as I continued to try to rein in my hormones. I was sitting too close. His smell was all around me, suffocating me, intoxicating me.
“Do you have an address?” He repeated, laughing and I watched in fascination as his Adam’s apple bobbed up and down.

“Um, yeah,” I stuttered as I handed over the address. His fingers brushed my hand and I felt a jolt of electricity race up my arm and back down my spine.
I have no idea how I got there but the next thing I knew, I was straddling his wide hips, grabbing his hair and pulling his head hack. His eyes were wide but lust was shining back at me. My mouth came down on his, and my hand was still fisted in his hair, pulling it as I kissed him desperately. His hands were everywhere at once. I laced the fingers of my other hand in his hair as well and then bit down on his bottom lip forcing the sexiest growl from him. He put both hands on my hips and pushed me down onto his hardened cock. My hips gyrated seemingly on their own and I moaned, tilting my head back feeling the sensations wash over me. He took that as an invitation to trail his lips down across my throat to the top of my breasts, pushing down my T-shirt, where he licked and sucked them into his mouth one by one.
