My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Yeah. I didn't sleep last night. Like at all. Not only was my brain going on over drive over other projects, but it also kept coming back to Judas and Delilah. This book was fascinating. I couldn't get enough of it and i wanted more.
More than once i wondered if there was more to this story that i haven't seen yet, if it's part of a new series or of an existing one. And most of all, i wanted more!! Who in the world are the Kingsleys? Needless to say that i'm really hoping that LP Lovell will make the decision to give us more of this family to show us what's to become of Saint, Judas and Jace because they are interesting to say the least.
I'm used to this author's darker stories, and even had the chance to read her contemporary romances that tore me to shreds and The Pope fell right in between. Dark enough to satisfy that craving for dark, and enough 'falling in love stuff' to make you giddy inside when you least expect it.
Honestly, i'm really looking forward to more of this family and i can only hope that we'll get more of Judas and Delilah in the future because, wow.

“Forgive me father, for I have sinned. It has been one day since my last confession.”
I smile, instantly recognizing her voice, soft and well spoken, undoubtedly feminine.
“I will hear your confession.” I repeat the words I’ve probably spoken hundreds if not thousands of times. Mundane words meant as a service to God, but they feel wrong with her. Devoid. I lean forward, tilting my head slightly towards the partition because I don’t want to miss a word.
“I did a horrible thing, and I can’t forgive myself.”
Five days. She’s been in here for the last five days like clock work. I’m not even supposed to be here this afternoon, but I came in. For this. For her. She came the last time Father Daniels was taking confession, but she wouldn’t confess to him. Only me. And that does something to me. Five days, and she always says the same thing. I did a horrible thing, and I can’t forgive myself. And every day, I give her the same bullshit response. We’re both pretending, both playing a role. Maybe she needs that right now, to be the lost lamb, seeking her shepherd. But she never truly confesses. Whatever eats away at her day after day, she never gives it voice, but she will. One day. And oh, how I long for that moment.
Each time she comes here I’m on edge, waiting, desperate to hear the truth fall from her lips. I want to know what she did. I want to think that this girl, the pretty girl with the sad eyes is in fact corrupt. As corrupt as me even? The thought shouldn’t be so thrilling.
I press my back to the solid wood behind me, forcing myself to remain there and not lean forward, not to catch just a glimpse of her face.
“God forgives those who truly repent, Delila,” I say, like a broken record. At this point, she usually leaves, but not today.
“I do repent.”
“Then why do you come here every day?”
“Because I believe that I deserve to carry this guilt.”
“If you truly confessed your sin then you may find yourself absolved of it,” I prompt.
There’s a beat of silence, then her hand presses up against the divider, the intricate mesh pressing into the milky skin of her palm. The urge to touch her creeps up on me, whispering in my ear, and I wonder if she feels as soft as she looks. “Thank you, father,” she says, before her hand slides away and she leaves the booth.

I've read the previous book in this series and it had surprised me. I know what type of books that this author is able to write and have had the chance to read at least one of each, and yet this series, the Collateral series, fits in just about any of the categories i've seen her write in. there was just so much of everything and yet, it really worked for the characters that she created.
Starting this book, Hold Me, i wasn't quite sure where or how it would go. There was so many avenues that this book could go and it went in its own way. Nowhere specific and yet in a predicted path that you know is just perfect for these characters. Anna is still so very broken from her past and finding out that she still has family when all her life she believed she was an orphan was shocking to say the least. When i thought this girl would have chosen one way, she absolutely went another, choosing Raphael when he seems like a stranger himself who even considering his present, wants to protect her.
I'm still wondering whether or not there will be more of this couple after this book - it was that good. I know there can be more of these two, to see just how far they'll go for one another and to find out whether or not Anna will embrace the darkness that exists within Rafe and emulate it. While i expecting something darker, things that i'm used to reading from this author, i was also glad to see that LP Lovell still stuck with the emotional pull that we had the chance of experiencing with the first book.
I'm incredibly curious to find out where this author will go from here- whether she'll continue this couples' story or if she'll find another way to pique our curiosity. One thing is for sure, i'll be truly looking forward to the next book that is to come from her.

“Why are you doing this?” She glares at me. “If you are trying to break me – ”
“I don’t need to break you,” I say coolly. She’s already so irrevocably shattered.
She stands and moves in front of me, her shoulders rigid. I stare into her eyes, and through that self-imposed wall of ice she’s built around herself, I see all the pain and despair, the burning hatred and raw defiance. It’s buried, but it’s there, an ember just waiting for oxygen. I lift a brow, waiting to see what she’ll do. “Whatever it is that you want to do, just do it!”
“And what do I want to do?”
“Just fuck me. Beat me. Pick your poison, but get it over with!” Her voice rises to a guttural snarl. She reaches for the straps of her dress, shoving them down her shoulders until the material falls, exposing her breasts. I grab her wrists and pin them together against my chest, repositioning her dress with my free hand and sliding the straps back over her shoulders. She’s shaking, her breathing ragged and her eyes wild. I can feel her pulse thrumming at her wrist, a primordial drumbeat against my fingertips.
She yanks against my hold, a growl working up her throat. A cold smile inches over my lips. “You’d like that wouldn’t you?” She stills. “For me to be exactly what you expect.” I lean into her, bringing my lips to her ear. “I think you want to be a slave, Anna. I think you want to be treated like a fuck doll. You’d rather be a whore than deal with the unknown. At least that way, you know what men want from you, right? You’d know what I want from you.”
She tugs on her wrists again, trying to break away from me, but I won’t let her. “No! I want…”
“What do you want?”
“I want to be free,” she whispers.
I step closer to her, crushing her arms between our bodies as I place a finger beneath her chin. “No, you don’t. You say you want it, but I offer it to you, and you’re scared to take it. You’re so busy being so goddamn angry that you haven’t realized you’re standing in a cage and the door is open.”
She tugs her face away from me. “I’m not angry,” she says.
I laugh, sweeping a tendril of hair behind her ear. “Oh, avecita, you’re the angriest person I’ve ever met.” I see it in her, the rage. And her anger in itself is a volatile thing because just as she has been imprisoned, so has it.
