A Retelling of Romeo and Juliet
by

Mar 25th - Mar 31st
“For never was a story more of woe
Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.”
- Prince (5:3:309)
For years, the vampire clans of Paris have been at war due to a feud between the Barons Capulet and Montague. When one fight goes too far, the Prince gives the clans an ultimatum; cease the fights or burn at dawn.
Baron Capulet, and his wife, are protective of their only child, Josie. Living a sheltered life, Josie had never even thought about love or marriage until her parents start arranging one. Romain Montague thought he knew what love was, until he sneaks into a Capulet party and sees Josie from across the room.
A faithful retelling of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Please be warned that the ending has not been changed.

I like to write whichever weird and wonderful tale comes into my head, which makes identifying the genre difficult even for me! My first series, Alventia, are novellas centred around Keira, aka Sleeping Beauty, and her Prince Philip, along with their allies Hansel and Gretel. It's a tale that very much told itself as I started to write it!
While I'm not writing, I work in Catering and am also an Assistant Brownie Guide Leader in the Midlands (UK). I like to bake and I love to read, and like with my writing, I read an eclectic mix of genres, and love every minute of it!

Title: By Any Other Name - A Retelling Of Romeo & Juliet
Author: Laura Greenwood

Unlike many of Laura Greenwood's other novels, By Any Other Name- A Retelling Of Romeo & Juliet, really takes William Shakespeare's original play and bases her own story from it adding her own personal flare to it. Vampires, centuries old feuds and vampires vowing to take an itch of celibacy, Laura Greenwood's latest release doesn't spare her readers when we read her novel, giving us just the right amount of old and new. I could have sworn that I was back in school, studying my English writers in history in my english lit class, and of course, it wouldn't have been complete with the option of 'modernizing' the original plays (I assure you, 20 years ago, that options was absolutely possible!). What made Laura Greenwood's version exciting was the fact that she made it into a paranormal type of read that made want to read it faster than my brain can actually process it to find out how she'll make the Capulets and Montagues work out: will Romeo and Juliet have the same fate as their original counterparts?

As I would have expected, it had a beautiful love story, with its own twists, but true to what I fell in love from William Shakespeare ~ not because it's the work that was most studied in high school, but because it was the one that made me fall in love with writing and that even non-HEAs can be beautiful. Always having been a fan of Laura Greenwood's, I loved the fact that she took the time to make it her own story, the sights, smells, emotions and the 'people' as real as though I was there alongside the characters. What's In A Name will be one of those rare novels that becomes more important than the author can ever know, reviving my love for things I thought had been lost so long ago and for that and so much more, I can only profusely thank her for it.

The Dryad's Pawprint by Laura GreenwoodMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Title: Dryad’s Pawprint
Author: Laura Greenwood

I love it when Laura Greenwood writes her paranormal novels. They’re simply imaginative and I immediately get pulled into these new worlds she creates.
Kem is a shifter who is being forced to marry another from another pack but his heart belongs to the woman he met a year ago, the same woman who’s kept a secret from her loved ones. A secret that risks being spilled when Kem meets his bride-to-be, Lia, the woman who is also a shifter and the same one he met 12 months ago. So many obstacles lay in their way, but these two will to have to face so much if they’ll make it together.

I wish that Dryad’s Pawprint was longer – I still had more questions and wanted to know more from these two characters. But if I know Laura Greenwood and if one follows the way she wrote her Alventia series, then the next installments will reveal so much more and will absolutely draw me in deeper into this new world. I can’t wait to find out more, and especially to see what else she has in store for her readers.
