Author: J.C. Valentine
When i hear that J.C. Valentine was going to write her autobiography, i knew i had to read it. I'm always curious to know people's life story, no matter what it is because it always shapes you (your past) to be the person you will be in the future. In Papi, my heart broke at her pain and then i rejoiced when she found love once again. With Mami, i got my answers from the questions i had when Papi ended.
I wanted to cheer for Julie and Alejandro to make it - but like Julie, more questions arose when he'd go quiet or they'd go weeks without seeing each other. Knowing what i do after reading J.C. Valentine's author note at the end of the book, i wonder how much of Mami is real? Will there be another book chronicling this author's journey? I still have a few more questions, but in the end, this journey was incredible and uplifting in the sense that even when things don't work out how you expected, there's always something waiting for you on the other side, and it took a lot of courage for this author to write her journey for all to see.

He sends me a picture. He’s smiling, shirtless, and holding a beer. Good Lord, could he get any hotter? Biting my lower lip, I hold my camera overhead and snap one of myself. I’m going for the sultry look. I’m not entirely sure I pulled it off though. I send it then follow it up with a couple rows of smiley faces with hearts for eyes.A: Cute cute cute
Me: The gods were in my favor today
A: You’re funny
Me: Glad you think so
A: What you do today
Me: Wrote a little and took the kids to dinner
A: Did you have fun
Me: Yep I did
Me: I miss your face
A: Send me another pic
This time I take a minute to change into a pair of skimpy pajamas, feeling all sorts of naughty, and then I take a picture of just my bare legs with only the lacy edge of my shorts showing at the top of my thighs.
Me: You mean like this?

EXCERPT
Silence persists, and my heart thunders in my ears as I wait to hear what he has to say next. I feel as though we’re standing on a precipice, and the worst thing is, I have no clue what awaits me on either side of it. No matter which way it goes, I’m going to fall—hard.“I really missed you,” Alejandro says, and suddenly, it’s as if I can finally breathe again.
That’s it. I can’t stand it anymore. Even the console is too much distance. Taking matters into my own hands, I unsnap my seatbelt, Put the coffee cup on the dashboard, and lean over. Cupping his jaw, I kiss him with everything I’ve got. He needs to know how much I missed him, too, and no words would ever do it justice. Instead, I show him.
With him holding the back of my head and me holding his face, we throw ourselves into the kiss. Between us, our fingers twine together on the console…but it just doesn’t feel close enough.
I allow my hand to roam down to his neck, feeling the corded muscles, his rapid pulse beating against my palm, then I move lower to his chest, his waist, around to his back. I grip his shirt tight, fighting the need to pull him closer.
