“Do you have any idea what you got involved in tonight, little girl?” His voice is low, dangerous, and for the first time since I woke, fear taps at each bone as it trickles down my spine and he moves closer. “I might not know your name, but I do know what you’ve done. What are you, some kind of femme fatale? You on a mission to rid the world of all the bad guys?” He chuckles to himself then stops with his body flush to mine. I hold his gaze, refusing to back off, feeling the fire in his eyes burning through mine. He strokes a finger lightly along my temple and down my cheek. “You got daddy issues?” he whispers.
“Fuck. You.” I shove at his chest, but he doesn’t budge an inch which only increases my frustration.
“Oh, sweetheart, usually I would take a girl up on such an offer, but—”
I bring my hand up to slap him, but he catches my wrist and grabs the other one in a flash, roughly pinning them to my side. “Oh no, you don’t.” He laughs under his breath, but his gaze is anything but humorous. “You got a lucky shot in last time. That kinda luck doesn’t happen twice.” He leans in close, pushing my hair from my face gently with his cheekbone and settling his hot breath over my ear. “Now, we can do this the easy way, or the hard way. I’m not above binding you again—” He pauses, letting a few heated breaths brush across my skin. “So tell me, are you going to bend and comply? Which will make it so much easier for you, or am I going to have to wrangle your twisted little soul into submission?”

This is the first novel i've read by Nikki Groom and i was captivated from the very beginning. The way she 'paints' a story, you can't help but picture it in your mind, wavering between staying up all night to finish the story or keeping it until the next day to savor it, and thoroughly entranced at the details she adds to each page. One man and one woman are after the same man that got away with a heinous crime, both for different reasons. While Sadie goes after him for his crimes, Ramsey needs him for information and for the money he owes the MC. So when Sadie gives him her own brand of justice, Ramsey needs to know who she is and fast. What neither expected was the sparks and the attraction between each other, and Ramsey never expected her to become a distraction nor wanting to claim her in front of all his men. Sadie is broken and still dealing with her own demons created 13 years ago, but Ramsey makes her feel protected in ways she never expected...
Before i go on, it's important to know that there are triggers in this book. Some might find them disturbing and others will find them realistic... they are horrible events, some that we all know happens even if we would love to protect the strangers that we know have gone through this. It's realistic (that would be an understatement), and there are dark parts that make your heart pound like there's no tomorrow, but most of all, Nikki Groom took two characters and made them come alive. They felt and lived their lives trying to overcome the demons of their past. While i loved this book, i'm curious to find out what she's going to do with her next instalment in the series and i know i'll be watching her in future..
