From all of the books in this series, i have to say that Passion Rising was my favorite. Even with all the shockers, the suspense, the cliffhangers of the previous books just couldn't quite come up with the pull i had with Tyler and Maddie in this book.

They felt so incredibly strong and emotional. As though everything they've been through tested their link to one another and forced them to really weigh in whether or not their relationship was worth fighting for. If it was worth having gone through everything they had to be with one another. They felt believable in a way that i'm not quite sure if i can find the right words to describe them.

There was just something about Passion Rising that had me pay closer attention to how these two characters evolved since the beginning - how Maddie found something in Tyler that helped her focus, and in Tyler, he found Maddie able to calm his erratic thoughts. These two completed one another in a way that i didn't quite notice in the first instalment.

I just hope that through it all, these two author collaborate in more books together - the fact that Johnathan McClain brought to life the male POV in a way that i personally think women might not fully comprehend (because let's face it, we're not men and only men can be men), and J.A. Huss managed to bring to life Maddie in a way that reminded me of myself not too long ago. These two are amazing together and i can only hope that it's not the end of their collaboration novels.

MADDIE

It strikes me suddenly that I’m not the only one who will notice how fucking good Tyler looks now that he’s all clean-shaven and you can really see that ridiculously fortunate bone structure he has. And I’m a little embarrassed about the fact that I just got all possessive and shit. I’m about to say something to that effect, either make a joke or play it off, but before I can, Tyler grabs me around the waist, pulls me to him and whispers, “That was so fucking hot,” just as the doors to another elevator pop open.

I did not expect this story. Didn't expect where these two authors would bring their readers, especially after the evens that happened during the second book of the Original Sins series. JA Huss and Johnatha McClain are really interesting together - their point of views are nothing that i could have imagined, nor is it like anything i could have imagined. You'd think that a male's point of view would be crass and methodotic, but in reality, it's just all over the place! That's Tyler. Getting the chance to be more in his head, to get right down to how he feels about Maddie, and how far he'd go to protect her; yeah, twenty thumbs up for that.

In Flesh into Fire, we really get into Maddie and how her quest for revenge for the wrongdoings that have been done to her and well, that woman is maybe a little insane, a whole lot of determined and just a tad too willing to do just about anything to get what she wants and needs. After the emotional coaster ride that we've been through, this book was refreshing. Still emotional, but there was action and suspense that kept me at the edge of my seat.

Knowing that there's only one book left in this series, trust me, i'm really, really curious and anxious to find out just what'll happen between Maddie and Tyler - are they really fated to be together for the rest of their lives? Will they make it through the paces that Carlos puts them through? So many questions and i know that it'll be all answered through that last book.

TYLER

I roll our interlaced fingers over so that I can see the back of her hand. It’s strong, but delicate. Long fingers and white skin. Veins that tense with the clench of her grip. Freckles. Just a few light, faint, perfect freckles.
I have the same thought I had the other day. That I want to learn her. Her body. Every millimeter of her. I want it burned into my brain. I want to imprint her into my memory before she goes. I want to study her. I want to have a PhD in Maddie Clayton.
I let go of her hand and stand up, turn to face her and then kneel down.
“What are you doing?” she asks.

What can i say about this book? First off - you should really have read the first instalment if you haven't done so before starting the second book in this series. Second - i love being able to read the male perspective through the mind of a male author and the female through the female view. Not that men can't write female point of views or vice versa that women can't write male point of views. There's just something about reading it through the male brain that gives you a better insight. It simply reminds me of the saying 'women are from Venus and men from Mars' or even 'Women, can't live with them, can't live without them'. There are so many other adages that we'd probably be here all night if i were to name them all.

The first instalment to the series left me a bit wonky - i was on the fence on whether or not i loved the book, and it didn't catch my attention as much as i would have liked. Going into the second book, i didn't hope for anything in particular, nor did i have any idea on where these authors would bring us for the journey.

Honestly? I'm so bloody glad that i went in, dipping my toes first and then plunging the rest of my body afterwards because it was totally worth it. Especially unexpected. There were so many elements that made it emotional and i couldn't read it fast enough to find out what was to happen to Tyler and Maggie after what went down in the previous book. I loved seeing these two struggle (yes, bad me for thinking it was great) mostly because it made them real and i could easily relate to them. It's the kind of book that you won't easily forget.

So the reviews that say the reader cried - they weren't exaggerating. There's a bit of everything in Angels Fall that you can't help but feel all the emotions, all the ups and downs and the whirlwind of feelings they have for one another. I can't wait to get my hands on the next instalment of this series because wow. Johnathan McClain and JA Huss know what they're doing when they're co writing together.

MADDIE
“Who the
fuck invited you?” I snarl at Tyler. “And how the hell did you even find out
where I live?”
“I stopped
by Pete’s. Met Pete. Sweet guy, by the way. I would’ve imagined a strip club
owner as being kinda—”
“Pete told
you where I live?” Jesus. Thanks, Pete. Fuck.
“No, no,
not exactly.” Tyler’s standing way too close to me now. The girls are
pretending not to be able to hear him, but it’s clear they’re eavesdropping. I
hope they’re better at fucking guys for money than they are at spying.
Tyler leans
in closer still, and I really, really wish he would not do that. Because I hate
him and don’t want him anywhere near me. Or maybe because I can feel the heat
of his body and he kinda smells delicious. Which just pisses me off more
because I hate him.
He lowers
his voice and continues explaining how he found me. “Don’t be mad at Pete. He
didn’t want to tell me where you live. Seems like a really ethical guy.”
“Except he did tell you where I live.”
