The Coven always makes me feel more in control. Our lounge is a reminder of how far we’ve come and everything we worked so hard for. Here in the Queen Anne chair, behind the massive desk, and surrounded by everything Carissa, Gia, and I built together, I’m Mel of The Trinity. Not Amelia Solis, a clusterfuck in human form.
That holds me together, so I can look into Gon’s eyes. He’d lost Byanca today but he’s still here, taking care of business without visible proof of the tears he’d shed earlier, when we had a moment alone, and we’d commiserated like only two people who lost someone they love can. But pain was there, flooding his gaze like a lighthouse lamp in the dead of night.
Everyone stares at me and I clear my throat. “We will need extra people around the perimeter of the lounge. We have to be diligent. If you think something looks weird, say something. Also, let's be discreet. We don't need our customers to feel…"
The door swings open, ushering in a gust of wind, and crashes against the wall behind it. I wrap my arms around my stomach, bracing for what's coming. My body senses his presence before I see him. It's like every pore, every vein, every muscle in me screams, he's here.
He stalks through the door, all six-foot-four and two-hundred-twenty-five delicious pounds of warm brown skin. His burnt amber eyes are set on me, like he knows just where to find me in the room. My heart rattles like loose change in a piggy bank. The sight of him is like a shot of dark liquor because everything goes hazy and I feel drunk.
He doesn't stop walking, making a beeline for me, not even stopping to kick the rest of the people out of the room. "Leave us." His order, in an ultra-low tone, makes everyone scramble in a matter of seconds.
I snap out of the trance. "You don't get to order my people around, Leandro. You’re not anyone's second-in-command here."
He keeps coming for me, ignoring my words and the space I'm trying to put between us with my extended palm. He snatches me into his arms, his lips crashing against mine. I taste his hunger and desperation. His mouth moves over mine and I get a taste of everything I deny myself, everything I try to forget, and the impotence that eats at me day after day. I taste Leandro.

4 unexpected stars
MC genred novels are some of my favourite. Add the fact that they are dark, and I find them irresistible. Why? Probably because the possibilities are endless and there's so much that an author can do with that kind of story that my curiosity is more than a little piqued, heck, I have this itching in my fingers that make me HAVE to read the book just to find out what happens to their characters and whether or not they were able to redeem themselves in the end. It's absolutely thrilling and something that makes me want to read more and more from the author. So when Chiah Wilder, a new author for me, wrote a dark MC romance about two broken individuals who suffer from their past, I just had to get my hands on it.
4 breath taking dreams
Diablo was nothing like I expected. As part of a series, I was happy to realize that I didn't need to have read the previous instalments to know what's going on. Honestly, it felt like an entire new story that even though it was set in a motorcycle club, it was easy as a standalone. These characters are broken, so damaged from their past that trust doesn't happen easily for them, and yet, when it came to one another, it just seemed as though the big things disappeared. They could laugh, live, forget and even hope for something they never thought they could: to be loved in return. Fallon was a conundrum. As the daughter of a man responsible for an underground illegal fight club, i didn't expect her to be so shy or as brusque as she was when she's laid a compliment. The reason for her limp was a secret for quite some time, but I did enjoy the fact that it was a mystery for as long as it was so that you could get to know the woman before feeling bad that rolls treated her horribly after what happened. When it came to Diablo, he was more of a straightforward man ~ either he liked you or he didn't, but there wasn't really any middle ground.
While the way that the story was developed allowed you to get to know these two characters, my mind did manage to wander every so often on who the other characters were ~ those that are part of the MC, and I did wonder what their story is and whether they found their very own HEA or at least their HEAFN. While I liked he premise of the story and the development of it as well, I had a bit more troubles connecting with these two characters, and that could be because I wasn't aware of what the previous life stories was about, but that doesn't go to say that I didn't like this book, because I did. I'd be curious to read more from Chiah Wilder in the future and see if each book in her series can be read as a standalone.

Chiah Wilder is the author of Hawk’s Property, the first book in the Insurgents MC Series. It is a full length, standalone novel. Its release date is set for October 27, 2015.
Always a lover of books, she began writing at a young age and continued through college with collections of short stories. Figuring she had to grow up and get a “real” job, her writing was placed on the back burner.
Her love of reading has always be center front in her life. Chiah’s love of bad boys both in and out of fiction has inspired her Insurgents series. She loves an alpha male whose softer side is brought out by a passionate, spirited woman. In fiction there are no rules or boundaries, and fantasies can go as far as the characters want to take them. Steamy, biker romances with rough, sexy bad boys are her guilty pleasure along with brownies, cheddar cheese, and movie marathons.
Returning to writing has been a dream come true. Writing and publishing Hawk’s Property has been an amazing journey, and she is happy to share the Insurgents family with her readers. She is busy writing her next book in the series.
