She’d tried for it and failed.
It was a mistake she’d not make again.
Rachel had been uncomfortable, just for a moment, with the idea that Gareth was speaking from his heart. It was almost as if he could read her mind, see the deeper parts of her that she’d hidden, even from herself. His words mirrored what she’d once so desperately craved. Could he see that still, when he looked at her?
She didn’t want or need that. Didn’t she? Was she just fooling herself and Gareth knew better? Unease skittered down her spine in a flash.
Emotions were messy, she thought, mentally shaking herself. She’d clearly outlined what she was looking for in her profile, and he did say that he had read it.
That was something they’d need to get straight right away, especially if she was going to get him to
agree to give her what she’d come here for.
