Title: Beast: A Hate Story, The Beginning
Hate Story Duet #1
Author: Mary Catherine Gebhard
Genre: Romantic Suspense/Dark Romance
Release Date: March 14, 2017
Blurb
Once upon a time, I thought love was a fairytale.
I thought selling myself to a mafia boss was noble. So what if they called him the Beast? I grew up in rags, and he would lift me to riches. All I had to do was give him my soul.
He was punishing. Insatiable. Captivating. Nothing like I expected him to be. Each day my reality blurred, leaving me wondering if I was slave or princess.
The longer I stayed, the more I lost myself to him. Even after every cruelty the Beast visited upon me, I longed for his touch. Even after every savage word he spoke, I begged for his lips. I thought the worst thing he could take was my body. I was too naïve to guard my heart.
Once upon a time, I thought love was a fairytale.
Now I know better than to speak of happily ever afters.
Beast is the first book in the Hate Story duet. About what it means to fall in love with the person who has absolutely destroyed you, it contains disturbing and graphic situations that may be a trigger for some.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Title: Beast
Author: Mary Catherine Gephard
4 unexpected stars
My first book by Mary Catherine Gephard, Beast, was one that left me wondering if my thoughts about what makes a great mafia romance should be revised. I love them mysterious, dark, suspenseful and so very wrong that it makes them almost forbidden to like them and want to keep reading them over and over again. As much as I'd like to say that Beast was dark, it wasn't the type of dark that I had gotten to used to, not to say that it isn't - I've just read some that were darker in the past. When Frankie is taken by Beast to New York, fear is supposed to keep her safe from him: Beast gives it to her I. Spades, needing to keep her on the edge of the toes while still wanting to claim her for his own and completely own her body as his.
4.5 sexy dreams
It's the type of book that will make you want to keep reading until you can finally understand and figure out every sordid little detail. Until you've turned the very last page and realize that you'll have to wait until the next instalment to find out what's to happen between these two individuals. Then, when you least expect it, you've figured out that whatever is going on between Beast and Frankie, you just can't have enough and want more! As wrong as this relationship should be, I can't wait for the second book of their story, because if nothing else, they were captivating!
