Superhero Syndrome by Caryn Larrinaga

Tess McBray was dying. The Solstice Syndrome had no cure, and she resigned herself to an early grave. But just when she gave up on survival, all her symptoms mysteriously disappeared.

All but one symptom, anyway. Something is wrong with Tess’s hands. They absorb any material they touch, and her skin turns to wood, or steel, or concrete. It doesn’t take this comic-book obsessed 21-year-old long to figure out what’s going on: somehow, she’s developed super powers. And she’s not the only one; across the country, people are coming forward and sharing their gifts with the world. In her own city, where the police are battling a human trafficking operation, a masked vigilante called The Fox is saving lives and stopping criminals.

Tess doesn’t know where she fits into this new, super-powered world. But when people around her start disappearing, she can’t just sit on the sidelines. Teaming up with The Fox to create the world’s first superhero duo might be the only way to rid her city of evil and save the people she loves most.

Superhero Syndrome Superhero Syndrome by Caryn Larrinaga
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So... i'm a superhero geek. Like, i've seen every DC and Marvel movies, and most TV shows that talk about them, and followed every single Marvel comic book in my teen years from my best friend's collection, geek. There's just something, well, logial, about how our bodies and genes eveolve to allow human beings to do extraordinary things. Of course i had to jump at the chance to read Caryn Larrinaga's Superhero Syndrome, and boy am i more than happy that i did.

Tell has the kind of outlook on life and her surroundings that is real - not everything is bubble gum, puppies and rainbows, and sometimes you get sick to the point where everything seems hopeless because there are no answers to your questions - i know, i've been there. I found this book interesting, engaging and incredibly fascinating. I loved the journey the theories and how tis one girl on the edge of death survived and made something of herself that defies just about everything, becoming a superhero. I just hope that Caryn Larrinaga will be penning more stories like Superhero Syndrome because i know i'll be getting my hands on them!
