Katrina is a housewife and a mother but also a new business owner and the stress is overwhelming. It piles up until one night, at a hockey game with a friend she has a hallucination of a man trying to seduce her. This might be the first time it happens but it sure isn't the last. Seemingly everywhere she goes, faces blur and reality slips through her fingers. Making her see, feel and hear erotic fantasies that aren't really happening.
She gains the courage to ask for help when her little hiccups become too much and she gets lost going to a local coffee shop, one she visits regularly. Can the help of her husband, best friend and a team of doctor’s figure out how to treat her symptoms and bring her back to the normal life she hopes to lead? Or will her husband be the one to save her, even if that means he has to step into the role of a Dominant that will push all of her fears and stress from her brain

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Title: Erotic Delusions
Author: J Richards

I was floored and then touched. I've read J Richards' novels in the past, but nothing has come close to touching me quite the way this novel has. The idea behind the book is quite straight forward - a woman, a wife and mother of two, suddenly begins to have delusions so real that she swears are reality. They are rough, erotic and some cruel, but the woman, Tessa, hides it for as long as possible from her family in fear of the consequences from the truth coming out, but to her surprise, her husband Jared refuses to leave her side or to give up on her.

So why did Erotic Delusions touch me so deeply? J Richards stars each of her chapters with a new quote from different authors about mental health and that's when you come to realize that living with any type of mental illness isn't as clean cut as many would like to make it seem. It's difficult, confusing, emotional and most of all, at times, isolating. Not knowing your own reality vs delusions your own mind traps you in is the hardest thing you can go through, but knowing your loved ones are behind you does help to a certain degree. Putting into words the struggle and the unknown of this illness is possibly the hardest thing anyone can do, but to do so in such a way that steals the words right out of my own mouth, takes extraordinary talent. For that and so much more, J Richards' Erotic Delusions is on novel that needs to be read.
